backfire

    what would cause the car to backfire? through the exhaust not through the carb...

    If you're still running points,a possible bad condenser. If duraspark a possible bad module or pickup coil. Anything that interrupts the ignition for a moment puts fuel vapor and air into a hot exhaust system. I had a module go bad,where it just hiccuped for a second and blew the muffler apart!

    Fix the leak, it will most likely fix the backfire.
