I own a 72 Maverick with a 302 and all of my lights work except the dash, i just went and bought new fuses and replaced the old and nothing has changed. I took a few bulbs out and tested them and they lit up so its not the bulbs, any one have any ideas on what it could be?

Chk the copper circuit board to see if it's dull colored; probably is.
Clean it up w/ some real fine steel wool or something compatible >>>
BE VERY GENTLE >>> TAKE IT EASY and polish it back to bright finish. Also chk bulb seats for buildup. If that don't work u'll have to chk the plug to see if ur getting power. I had the same problem and that's what worked for me.

Or check the dimmer that's built into the headlight switch.

My dash lights were doing the same thing. I cleaned the circuit board with a pickle. I know it sounds strange but the acid from the pickle works and doesn't scratch the board like fine sandpaper or steel wool. If you are going to take the cluster apart...paint the inside white. It will brighten up the gauges a lot.

They probably do work, but they're historically so dim you can't see them! Like these other folks said, try turning the light knob all the way to the right. While it's very dark outside. :)

Pull the speedo cable out of the trans on the drivers side. Just one fastener 7/16 or 3/8 not sure which.
By doing that u can pull some slack in the cable "under the dash" and pull the cluster out far enough to get ur hand on the connections behind the cluster. Don't pull on the cluster to get slack -- Pull the cable frm under the dash or push it from under the car. Only need an inch or so of slack.
I have a floor shift so I did'nt have to be concerned abt hitting the shift selector or have any other obstructions to deal with. DO URSELF A FAVOR AND REMOVE THE CABLE -- WILL MAKE THE JOB MUCH EASIER. I had tried to get mine out twice B4 got a tip from forum member Jamie Miles to pull the cable. Best tip I got since I been here.
Also, as someone here mentioned --Paint the inside of the white while u have it out, it will improve the visibility like u won't believe.
