today i was tinkering and doing a little rust work on the maverick and seen something i never noticed when my woman bought me the car... the frame is rotted pretty bad around the gas tank going across the rear end... is this possible to replace with a piece of tubing or am i just up the creek with no paddle to depend on? i would give pictures if possible but my son dropped my digital camera on our concrete steps out front :(

Honestly.....I would look for another car before I would mess with fixing frame rust on a Maverick. Really depends on how bad it is. It also depends on how much rust the rest of the car has. Yes....pictures would help.

good news. I work with a guy who has been into "Ford" everything and anything since he was a young lad and he has offered to help me fix up my maverick and said he can repair the back end for me and help me with several other things since i am very new to this world of older cars.. i was wondering if there are replacement wheel well's i can order or find in a scrap yard, to replace mine without having to alter the back seat because i have the original interior..any ideas?

Autokrafters has a bunch of stuff new and used and Sunman Ford(sunmanford.net) in OK has decent used stuff. Both have kinda high prices but sometimes that's your only option. Last time I looked at sunman they had 2 mavericks.

Hello i had the same issue with my rear frame because i live in Qc, canada both side where really bad for at least 2 feet long. I removed the better one. I gave the frame at a shop and they reproduced both side. And finally weld the new frame in place.

awesome, i think that is the route i'm going to have to take. I am in good hands with the guy i work with now so i'm confident that it wont be to much trouble. Money is the issue but well.. i can sacrifice some un-needed habbits in life like junk food and take out LOL
