My Ford Dealer buddy was going back down to Danville VA. where he was from originally, and has a couple yards he's bought from for years, and asked if I needed anything,I told him to find me a super nice Mav. body,He brought back my '70,it was a friends mothers car,I rebuilt two 12 bolt Chevy rears for him, and gave him 400.00 bucks. That was about 6 yrs.ago.

when I was in high school a buddy's older brother had a red maverick with a 289 and a 4 speed. 10 years later i run into my buddy and seen a purple maverick in his garage, he was storing it for his brother. same car, now purple with a 351 and auto. fast forward about 5 yrs (this past winter) my buddy calls me and said he bought the maverick from his brother, I asked him to sell it to me but he declined. in march/april i came into a little money and offered him 1500 for it, he declined. I then asked him how much he would sell it for, he told me 3800. I told him I only had 2000. he then said, if you can come up with 2500 it's yours. Borrowed 500 from the girlfriend and picked it up that weekend (first week of april of this year.)

I bought my '72 on 12/1/05 for $100. It looked like this:

4 1/2 years and 124,000 miles later, it looks like this (I put a Grabber spoiler on a couple of days after this was taken):

I bought the car from a member of this board named Clint Deal in Charlotte, NC. The car has a junk title with the notary seal expired making it useless in NC, so he was using it as a parts car for his '74 that now belongs to Bobby (ford84stepside on this board). Georgia doesn't require titles for cars this old. I wrecked my first Maverick on 11/29/05, bought this one a couple days later, spent the month of Dec. 2005 swapping everything over, and was on the road with it in Jan 2006. It has been a daily driver ever since. It currently gets me back and forth to work, 70 miles a day, plus what ever I put on it over the weekend. Though I've spent much more on it in stuff that's come and gone, I'd guesstimate there's roughly about $2,000 worth of stuff on the car right now. Car had 228k on it according to the title when I bought it. So that puts it at about 352,000 now. It's very far from perfect, lots of bondo, been hit in the rear, hole in the rear floor, pin holes in the torque boxes, leaky window seals, all the chrome on the car is rust pitted, and you know, I just don't care. It sits outside 24/7 and is on the road every single day, rain, snow or shine. I purposely bought a rough body because I knew exactly what I was going to use it for. The car gets thumbs up and enthusiastic people wanting to check it out all the time. I sand it down and respray it with cherry red krylon from Wal-Mart once a year, hit all the chrome with an SOS pad every couple of months, drive the piss out of it and enjoy the hell out of it.
