What's the best way to remove the rivets from the upper ball joints w/o air tools. :hmmm:

You can try cutting an X in the head with a drill and a thin cutting wheel. Then use a sharp chisel and hammer to knock the heads off.

You can take a hand held grinder and grind the heads off.

I cut many of them off with a hammer and chisel but it wasn't fun. A Dermel with a cutting wheel held at 90* will work to shave down the head.

    Torch?..
A dremel is affordable and redily available. Will consume a few bits and be slow but should work. Then you can also polish them :rofl2:

    Balljoint removal

Ur probably right. I think I will just get the parts and let someone else do it since it's most likely a one time deal for me. Someone w/ the proper tools to do the job. Im not up to struggling w/ it - I do have Dremels and chisels.

My car has the originals, the front end is still tight but I don't feel comfortable w/ them. I believe the original mileage is correct at 78K. It's not an emergency but soon.

Thanks guys for all the suggestions on removing the rivets.

Yea, it could turn bad if you started it and couldn't finish it in the driveway/garage. Altho, you could spend the $ you would pay someone and buy a compressor, hose and a inexpensive air hammer with chisels. All could be bought for around 2 bills, then you got tools.
