My car has sat for 2 months now. I been trying to start it for about 3 days now with no luck. It will start when I use the choke but dies after a few seconds and dies right away when I close it. I have a holly 600 with vacuum secondaries and non-adjustable float. I can see that it is getting gas. Could the gas be old already? Thanks

the idle circuts could be cloged up. there may be a vacuum leak. look for dry cracked vacuum lines and or caps.
does it run when you hold the throttle off of idle?

The vacuum lines are new and on there tight. It dies as soon as I touch the gas. It will idle for about 5 seconds then die. I am not sure what an idle circuit is. The carb is only 7 months old.

chances are the fuel in the carb evaporated as the car sat. when it evaporates it will leave a varnish behind. the varnish can plug up small passages in the carb. chances are that if you take apart the carb and clean it out with carb cleaner and compressed air it should run. what type of carb do you have?

It is a Holley 600. So i should take it apart and soak everything in carb cleaner? I think I can handle that. I thought about maybe spraying carb cleaner in it and getting a new fuel filter. I guess taking it apart would be the right way.

So should I get a rebuild kit before I tear it apart?

you just need a set of bowl and metering plate gaskets. you might want a new power valve while your in there. just try to get carb cleaner to go through every hole in the metering block and the main body of the carb.

Spray carb cleaner into the fuel bowl through the vent and use alot of cleaner and let it sat for a hour then start you may need to turn idle speed up to a 1500 rpm and let it run .

The next time you park your car for along period of time fill the tank full and use fuel stabilizer than drive it for 1/2 hour to get stabilizer into carb.
