I've found lot of younger people don't know who made the Mav/Comet and I can’t blame them the only wording on mine is Maverick. I was pleasantly surprised this July getting it inspected that the kids working there loved it and its nice rumbling sound. The manager told me next time he will have me drive it in the bay because they all wanted to drive it in and out. I was surprised again when my friends 23 year old son was working there so when my car was finished I told him go ahead Chris I know you want to and handed him the keys.

i blame the fathers of all the teens that have ricers and not sticking with american classics. i am 18 and all the cars we owned have been ford besides my brothers impala(he is an import guy his impala has a body kit under glow and leds crap) and my mothers jeep. :) i will always have a ford or chevy

People do not have the power to bother you as much as you have the power to let them. Live by it!!!

^ I kinda thought the same thing till last night!
Went to a new friends house(forum member) to mess with my maverick
and get a "overall" sense of what it needs, and learned some valuable knowledge
    about the "old car" mind-frame.
Its the "feel" you get behind the wheel. Its the "sensation" you get when you walk out your door and see your car in your driveway, even in your car's current state
you know your car is "awesome"! and viewing your car inside your head you see what it will/can be with a little work and passion.
With some of the cars I have owned, I have been laughed at and shunned away many times,. Dont listen to them! But when someone give "constructive" opinons, dont stray.

dont worry about what anyone says about your car, unless they making payments or buying parts and working on it heck with them.a lot of the younger guys and older too just havent a clue as to the potiental a maverick has.and besides , it different from the crowd , never did like following , allways wanted to be different, ive mustangs , camaro and other cars, but i play in the maverick. ask jason (gestiva) he came by last nite and we tinkered with his mav(which by the way is a very kool car). he let me drive it to a gas station with him and soon as we pulled in it drew looks, when i cranked engine to go a group of guys in a car , al smiling and shouting kool car , jasons car has a nice rumpty rump. so there will be those who like your mave. dont give up on it and dang sure dont let anyone discourage you. good luck with your car.

I get a lot of people that don't even know what a Maverick is or who made it. I get a lot of people who say "I used to have a Maverick" or "You don't see many of them around". But at the end of the day, I own it because I LOVE IT! My first car was a Maverick and the love affair started there. Drive what you want to drive and love what you want to love! Most people who talk crap are just jealous anyway. :thumbs2:
