Just got home from our Ohio trip and have my 2 new steelies sitting in front of me. 15x8 Wheel Vintiques.
I have to say Summit is incredible. I had to go in with blinders on, pick up my rims and get out before I got divorced. :)
That place is like heaven for car guys.
Cedar Point was a hoot but I feel like I ran a marathon. We stayed on site at the Breakers hotel. Walked out of our room, across the grass and onto the beach. Great place to stay but pricey. Will be back next year for sure.
Drove 700km today from Cedar Point to Summit and home through Buffalo and over the Queenston/Lewiston bridge.
The border was no hassles either way as per usual. I find the Americans nicer to me than my own countrymen at the border.
Drive across the I-90 was good both ways. Some construction but no real delays till we hit Cleveland at rush hour on the way down Tuesday. Pales in comparison to the grid lock around here though so it was all good. I have to say it was a pleasant experience on the roads in the US. People seem to have much more respect for the speed limit and other dirvers than we do around here. I was reminded of that as soon as we hit the QEW. Idiot drivers tail gating and slamming on the brakes so they dont hit the poor guy not going at light speed in front of them.
Driving the speed limit was the norm on the interstates and a nice change. Driving the speed limit here is almost dangerous.
Funny how the truckers drive totally different once they cross that border.:hmmm:
Anyhow all in all a great trip to the US. We did note some huge differences from up here.
The kids had a laugh counting how many McDonalds were on the way to Ohio. I thought it was extreme the amount of fast food places you Yanks have till I got home. Once we crossed into Canada I realized we also had a dependency. Your fast food joints aint got nothing on our Tim Horton locations. Hell we have 2 in the same parking lot down the street from us. One is the eat in/drive thru location and in the same lot is a drive thru at the gas station.
Its alot easier to get a good coffee up here. I grabbed a coffee in PA at a Starbucks and had the stereotypical cashier. This dude was everything you would make fun of at a Starbucks. I just wanted a coffee with 2 milk. He looked at me like I was from another planet. Says to me he doesnt know how to mix that so he'll leave room for me to ad my own milk.:hmmm: OK I said. Then he says oh we only have cream on the table for you to put in are you sure you want milk? I said just dump some milk in it. Surely you have milk. He says I'm sorry I dont drink plain coffee, only specialty's. Like I couldnt have guessed that one by his feminine gestures and his cute little lisp.;) I says, look I'm not a complicated guy, just dump in some milk till it changes color a bit and I'm out of here. He finally gets it. Then he says, skimmed,2% or heavy cream??? I just about choked him.;) I'm thinkin... Am I on a TV show or something here?? I said just hand me the 2% and my coffee. He watched in disgust as I just dumped in some milk and slammed the lid on. I handed him the milk and says it aint chemistry class kid its just a lousy coffee. The guy behind me was doing all he could to contain his chuckling as his wife is telling him to be quiet. I walked out and started giggling as I walked up to my wife. She was watching me through the window no doubt and I'm sure she knew exactly what just happened. She kind of knows after all these years what situations she needs to avoid with me in tow. I think she kind of new what was going to happen when I walked into a Starbucks in that nice pretty mall.:rofl2:
I have some really nice pics of Cedar Point I'll post in the off topic tomorrow.(y)
As nice a holiday as it was its good to be home.(y)

Oh and whats with all the BP gas stations? I had no idea they were that big in the US or at least where we drove. Surprised the US people would support a British fuel supplier.:hmmm: I know its a touchy subject after the leak but we had no idea the BP stations where that numerous. Been gone up here for years.

Around here - BP took control of all the Standard, Amoco stations. That is why there are so many BP's.

Ok that explains it. Sure didnt see much competition along our way. We had a big take over up here with Sunocos parent company buying our Petro Canada stations. They had to sell off over a hundred locations though as per the government cause the market share was too great. Bad news is its hard to find an old Sunoco station around here now for our 94 octane now.

    What does 700km mean? lmao!!!

Sounds like you had a fun trip. I love going to Ohio. Reds games, Kings Island and the Air Force Museum are my favs! I've never been to Summit but I sure buy alot of stuff from them. Their prices are great and their speedy shipping is the best!
