Am looking to purchase a set of decent headers in the near future. The ones on the vehicle now were on it when I purchased it in 2006. They're in pretty bad shape (rust, etc). What is a decent pair to purchase for a '75 with a '85 Mustang 5.0 engine. Are all 302 ci headers universal? Thanks

These were the main factors in my header choice.

    • 1 5/8" runners following advice on here that 1 1/2" was too restrictive.
    • Shorties for ground clearance issues. Faster is funner but drivability is more important to me. Lots of speed bumps around here.
    • Ceramic coated to avoid rusty headers.
    • No fitment issues, incl no PS drop bracket.
I chose Doug Thorley shorties, $400 on sale. They met those criteria except I had to dent the DS collector to allow pitman arm full travel.
