what is lean or rich and which make's my car faster/how do i adjust to get it?

    just wondering how an the heck do i adjust my performer series edel carb to make it run rich to get a little bit better time's.

    just richening up a carb will not make power. you need to determine if your car is running lean or rich. you can do this by trying to read the spark plugs, or geting a wide band o2 sensor (best way), or having it dyno tuned.
    on the edelbrock carb on the top there are two little plates with one screw in each one. they are located between the primary and secondarys on the sides. you take those off and that gives you access to the metering rods. you can make the carb richer by puting smaller rods in and leaner by puting richer rods in. if you run out of adjustment on the rods you can take the top off the carb and change the jets.

    okay i was looking at the kits and now that make's more since!!! im in the proccess of rebuilding a carb and was thinking if i would want to make it more lean or rich but i'll wait till its rebul=ilt and installed to mess with the jets thanks that answered my qeustion perfect!
