Does anyone know if the sending unit in the explorer rear can be wired up to aftermarket gauges? I'm thinking that with the major driveline changes I'm making this would be the easiest solution.
Isn't that just a sensor for the anti-lock brakes in the rear end? I'm thinking the speedo needs to run off the trans.....
I don't know. The rear assembly has a plate behind the ring gear that looks like the plate used for the crank position sensor behind the harmonic balancer on some engines. I couldn't think of a more logical use than for it than a sensor for the speedometer, but I could be mistaken.
ford uses it for the speedo, and abs. it just creates a sign wave. thats all the aftermarket speedos need. they use a measured mile calibration method so it doesnt really mater what the tooth counts are.
sine do all aftermarket speedos have the option to calibrate? i guess they would have to in order to be aftermarket...
