Hello again.. I have a 70 Mav with an inline 200cid .. Iv been thinking about where to start. So I figured removing everything not needed on the engine would be prefect..Especially cause it will clean up the engine bay a bit.... Is there an egr on the 70, cause I dont see it?.. What else can be removed, and can I dump the cannister by the fire wall?.. I also have an electric fuel pump but the old one is still hangin on the block.. What block off plate will actually fit?... thanks

EGR valves came out around 1973.

That is a charcoal canister down low, originally designed to vent fuel fumes.

classicinlines.com has the block off plate. Be sure that the fuel pressure is correct. I wouldnt feel comfortable running an electric unit without a regulator, even if its for a carbed application.

I thought about getting a pressure regulator too... With a 1bbl holley carb what should the pressure be at? Thanks for the help

An inertia switch would be a good idea too.
Cuts the power to the electric fuel pump if you have an accident.

Wow.. The fuel pump i have is rated from 2-4psi.. Its the autozone replacement pump for my engine, besides the mechanical fuel pump.. Is there anything else i can strip from the engine to gain power.. An electric fan may be the next upgrade... But I still want to know, is there even any smog equipment on a 70?..

Can you post a picture of your engine? Some engines had smog stuff since the late 60s. But it also depends on where it was sold, i know CA and AZ engines had different stuff.

Looking in my Motors Manual there is no mention of a smog pump system so I would say you have a PCV valve and the charcoal canister. Not going to pick up and power there.
