I just bought one last year, after I put on new u-joints, then put the car in storage, got the needle, moved, put the needle somewhere in a different storage area, and now, have the car home, need to take it to a car show about 60 miles away, and the new u-joints are shot from driving it without grease from storage to home.

    WHEW!!!

Anyway, I bought the last one through amazon.com. I need one much sooner, so I can slap in new joints and lube them for the drive to the car show next weekend.

    Who sells them?

These are not the "needle" type that slip past the boots, but the one where the tip slips into the end of the cap and squeezes grease in.

    One like this...

Great!!! It took me weeks to get the last one. Now it is hidden in deep storage, somewhere. Gotta lube the new bearings before I drive again.

I just went through the same thing. Coudn't find mine anywhere. DO your U-joints have the grease fiting that uses the needle? That's what mine had. It is very hard to pump much grease through that fitting. :yup: I took the fitting out and put the needle in that hole and was able to fill it very quickly. Then put the fitting back in. Worked great for me. Just something you may want to try. Good luck. (y)

Frank, that is exactly what I am going to do...lube them before I install the shaft into the car.

I figured it would be much easier to get to them that way.

Mike, thanks for the suggestion on greasing before I put the nipple put in!!! :thumbs2:

I never knew that they packed em by hand.

At least I still know how to correctly pack bearings by hand. That is becoming a dying art form.
