1971 maverick bad carb

    1971 ford maverick v8
    hey!!! i have 71 maverick with a 4 bbl carter abf carb. its leaking gas from the throttle linkage. the car smells alot like gas when its on and when im driving. anybody have an idea of what i can do? is the smell because of the carb leak? carb leaks when i turn the car off or when im just iddling.

    The mav is gone but i'm still here!
    Rebuild the carb, its a simple thing to do. Just get the kit at a parts store their about twenty bucks or less.

    Replace the needle and seat that is where the problem is. There are no seals at the shaft so when the needle dont stop the gas flow it will leak out at the shaft. also it will make your car hard to start because most of the gas is going down into the cyls an causing a flooding.

    i took care of carb but i cant adjust the mixture screws. i tried everything but i just cant get it adjusted. any ideas? please help. i have a carter carb 600 on a v8 302.
