well i have been, but it seems like most are using a kit from eBay. This is fine but i would like to know more info in general and what other kits are good for our cars other the eBay?

Well I have quite a bit of experience with HID and the aftermarket headlamps. As far as I am concerned 99% of the HID of they are infact a true HID are dangerous and illegal. The issue is the housings have the wrong reflectors for a HID bulb. HID by law has to have a definite cut off point for the light beam so as not to blind on coming traffic. The aftermarket kits do not have this. If I was you I would just stick with a good halogen kit. Its safer and likely a better built product. True factory style HID lamps are very expensive since they include an advanced reflector/headlamp housing design. Our Police are really cracking down on illegal lights around here. I did a little course for them a while back with the ministry of transport. Blinding other drivers is very dangerous. I assume they are for the MAv. I guarantee if you put them on that big Bronco you'll get flashed non-stop for blinding people.

AFter all the driver you blind may veer into your lane. Thats how I explain it to my customers.
Not trying to preach. I just dont like the HID kits. They shouldnt even be sold as far as I'm concerned.

Good info here. Scroll down to LIGHT SOURCES then down to HID.

I used the Autoloc conversion headlight kits. It replaces the sealed beam headlight with a housing system that uses the new style H4 Halogen headlamps like a newer car. I used the upgraded Sylvania silver star bulbs. The AutoLoc conversion headlights are more expensive than some you will find on ebay because they have a real glass lense, not plastic like the cheap ones and have a real DOT apporved reflector. I don't think I have more than $150 in the headlight/bulb combo and don't seea ny reason to have more light than what I have now. It would probably be even better it I ran the headlights through a relay.

Sounds like a great set up. I was looking at a Hella set up with the same Sylvania bulbs. I like the Silver Stars. HAve them in my Jeep as sealed beams. Huge difference.(y)

Most street rod or Hot Rod supply places sell them. Just don't get the cheap plastic lense ones. They fade and crack and have bad reflectors in them. The Autoloc ones are great quality.

They are listed on Amazon for around $40 each [ame="http://www.amazon.com/AutoLoc-HL1-Snake-Head-Light/dp/B0016J25FM"]Amazon.com: AutoLoc HL1 Snake Eye Head Light with Omni View Cel: Automotive[/ame]

This place lists them for $18.89 each, must be an error but if you can get them for that price its a steal http://www.autopartsdealer.com/auto...cse&utm_campaign=froogle&utm_content=APD95334

Maybe the Amazon price is for 2 but it dosn't say anywhere if it is for 1 or 2 lights, they are usually boxed and sold individually.

Summit also sells them for $19 http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HFM-HL1

Before you change any lights install relays on both low and high beams and see the differance. See tech artical for how to .

I did the relays with halagons lamps almost double the amount light.

Anything with a glass lense. Lots of options for lamp design. Saw one with a skull etched into the middle. Some have color dots, tri bars, turn signals... lots of options.
