Yes,In my experience bigger is better! The small ones are actually restrictive,and you will have to replace the element much more often. Get the largest size one,that you like and will clear the hood and other accessories. I care for replaceable elements,but that is just me. The washable ones are just as effective if the cleaning procedure is adhered to!
Car craft did a test a while back and the base plate made more difference than the element size. The flat base did better than the drop base by a few hp even running a shorter element. All were 14 inch. About 3 months ago we had my bosses 347 on the dyno and with the big volocity stack they use we 468hp at 6700 rpm, with his flat base 14x2 paper air cleaner it only cost him 4hp above 4500 rpm. I still personally run the biggest one I could fit. Right now I have a 14x4 flat base K&N with the filter lid, had to cut a hole and cover it with a comet gt scoop though.
