    Yes Indeed

Bought mine on Nov. 21, 1983 two months after my 17th birthday for $625. Still got it although is in a sad state of repair right now. 170/3-speed, AM radio with a Radio Shack FM converter, had a blue vinyl roof the previous owner had ripped off (he had primered the roof). I even remember the house I bought it at in Iowa Park, TX. It also came with tinted glass and Accent Group.

My first wife bought a '71 V8 Grabber from a friend of mine in 1974....He had bought it brand new....I remember that he picked it up from the dealer on a friday nite after work....First thing he did was drive it straight from the dealership to the local 1/8 mile dragstrip to "break it in"....He used to do that with all his new cars back then....After that he put on chrome Keystone slotted mags, Thrush sidepipes and Cougar tailights and had it pinstriped....Really a nice looking car until my ex was broadsided at a light pushing the right side rocker about 6" towards the driver's side totaling it out

I remember my buddy who originally bought it new traded in a '70 which was light blue with a 6 cyl. that he had put 3 1bbls. on it which was also "broken in" when new at the 1/8 mike drags

My first car was a 1974 Maverick 2-door 200cid with the three-speed on the floor and a bench seat, bronze in color; like the one in my signature. It had 62,000 miles on it. (I didn't realize that it came from the factory that way until I became a member of this site!) It cost $900.00. My payment was $80.02 per month and insurance was $56.00 every 6 months. This all happened in November of 1980. That car didn't have anything on it. Nothing. It even had the radio delete plate near the glovebox. At the time mom had a 1977 Maverick 4-door and dad had a 1974 Maverick 4-door. I had to overhaul the engine, rear axle bearings and all. Needless to say, I had to become proficient quickly. Dad always said that car is what made me. I bought the Maverick in my signature because I wanted to show my kids what we drove back in the day.

I sold my 1974 in April 1984 and bought a 1979 Ford Thunderbird. Dad sold his in 1987 and bought a 1977 Mercury Comet with the LDO option. Mom sold hers in 1981 and bought a 1978 Ford Club Wagon.

After the Thunderbird, I had a 1979 Ford LTD, 1987 Lincoln Mark VII, 1996 Mercury Grand Marquis, and the Crown Vic in my signature. I bought the 1972 Maverick in my signature in January of 2011. My kids just shake their heads in astonishment. " Where do you plug in the I-pod," my kids asked. Man, I wish I had that Maverick back. I have not owned anything but Ford products; I need to get out more!

Mojo: A funny story about the Chrysler pushbutton shift: My neighbor had a 1964 Plymouth Fury. Dad and I worked in a repair shop at the time and he asked me to go and pull that Plymouth in the garage. I went out, started the engine and I COULD NOT FIND THE GEARS! On that car the heater controls and the buttons for the gear shift are on opposite sides of the steering wheel and they look the same. Finally dad came out with a "Crap eating" grin on his face. "Can't find the gears?" They're right there, boy. Push that button marked "drive". I can't. Lift that lever marked "Park" boy! Now push! We finally got in the garage. How do you get it back in park? Push the lever down, boy. I was 23 years old and had never seen that!

The only other time I was so embaressed I couldn't start a 1953 Buick. Again, dad comes out. Now I have seen starters on the floor, but, this car didn't have that. "Push on the accelerator!" The engine roared to life!

I'm glad this is 2011! Heck yeah, I wanted a Maverick because mom and dad had one!

my first car was a 71 mavrick 2dr she was blue and white, the quarters were rusted so bad you could see through the trunk from side to side, i couldnt carry much back there cause it would fall out or get wet. the pig had a 302 with burnt valves a slush box automatic, dang thing leaked every possible fluid, the exhaust leaked back into the car front tires were bald i paid 75 bucks for it without a pass side window in 1983 man i ran the dog s### out of that thing and loved every minute of it. drove it for almost 2 years and sold it for 200 to an ex girl friend. ahhhhhh the memories
