My fuel sending unit is bad. So I decided to just go ahead with the mustang fuel tank swap. Wondering where I can order that grommet and vent that mavaholic mentioned in his write up on www.fordmaverick.com parts Grommet-F6TZ9B076AA, Vent Valve-E7DZ9B593A. I figure $120 for tank and sending unit. Need to purchase a sump too and have it sumped while the tank is new. Any suggestions on sumps?
They make mustang tanks that already have a sump built in... I know NPD sells one I bet Mustangs Unlimited dose as well.... I used a 69 19gal tank easy to make it fit, and it vents through the gas cap....
I went with the 69 Mustang tank as well and it fit right in. You can also use the earlier Mustang tanks but they are 16 gal versus 19 gal I believe. Still had enough room to run dual exhaut also.
sorry I mean fuel cell . . . I'll talk it over with bryant this week, I remember us talking about it before and I don't remember what conclusion we reached. It would be nice for me to keep my trunk but I don't make as much use of it as I thought.
decided to go with the 68 mustang tank, comes with a drain plug and sending unit for $124. On their site they say free shipping. http://www.cjponyparts.com/fuel-tank-kit-with-drain-plug-1965-1968-mustang/p/FTK5/ Then I gotta spend another $50 for the valve and grommet ($40+shipping). The sump is another $50-70 http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CEE-4041/
Did you try the local Ford dealer? Thats where I got them from. Or you can just make your fuel cap a vented one and you wont need it.
