Hello all new to the forum and hoping to find some good info here..

So gotta question. My cousin has a 1971 Maverick has a grabber hood on it needs work of course.. My question is.. Is their such thing as a i6 maverick grabber i think this one is a grabber but i never knew they made a 6cyl grabber.. I called him the other day and asked about the car he wants 300 bucks for it so i am going to buy it in two weeks.. Btw it has a 3speed manual..Already have a warmed up roller 5.0+4speed waiting to be used as well as a 8" posi out of a mustang2

Welcome to the board. The best way to tell if it is a Grabber is if it has a 93 in the vin #. If it is not a grabber it'll have a 91 in it.:Welcome:

Welcome. ITs a real common misconception that Grabbers were V8 cars. Grabber was just an appearance package really. Lots of variations over the years.

If that Grabber hood needs work, it is usually at the front lip. You can simply get a cheap flat Maverick hood and cut the front lip off and graft it onto the Grabber hood and all will be good again :thumbs2:

That is right I use to do paint and body work for a living so that wouldn't be a problem but i think i'm going to try to fix this one up first..

    And thanks for the welcome!!

The original frame mounts can be hard to get you're hands on, but you can do what Joedirt did. It has worked fine for him. If I ever swap another one over, I'll probably just do what he did. The engine side mounts are pretty cheap. Although, I do believe Autokrafters sells the repop frame mounts for about $80.oo.:tiphat::Handshake

Hmm that might workout for me... I guess i could always make them myself i do have a welder and a cutting wheel.. It looks like maybe a 65 mustang v8 frame mounts would work just maybe..

Another question how can you tell if my i6 is a 200 or 250?.. And would it
be worth leaving in the car until i get the paint and body work done? Never worked on these lil 6's
