Anybody in the surrounding states of Az. want to come to the Desert Maverick Meet on Feb. 19th? We have about 15 members so far that say they want to attend. the more the merrier of course. im thinking about coming out for this. is there a dragstrip near there that will be running that weekend? it would fun to be able to do some drag racing out there also.
Well Bryant, Speedworld Raceway is maybe 30 minutes from the show site. They usually race to midnight or later when they have Sat. night races. They might be on a winter schedule like they have done before, not sure when they start and stop that schedule. But if they do the winter schedule again then it will be a sat morning-afternoon thing. Usually just test and tune runs, side by side heads up racing. SO either way you would be able to race before or after the meet. We will find out more as it gets closer.
Looks like on there schedule AZ fastest street cars is running that night(sounds like they are averaging around 40 cars per event from what I been hearing most in 11.5 street class), also have a test and tune lane and saturday night live(CAR SHOW AND MUSIC LOOKS LIKE). I think they just also lowered there prices under new management. It says on the schedule open until 11pm that night. When i used to race regularly I never went on an event day like that. It was a crowded waste of money. I'd go on a day with just the regular Sat. trophy runs and TnT and run as much as I could. I hate sitting in the staging lanes for half hour or more.
Wow, Wednesdays are only $10 to race. Might need to head out there again sometime. You could practically hot lap it when i used to go on Wed.
