I was recently able to purchase a 1971 Maverick off of a good friend of our family for a mere $400.00. I love the car, though it needs quite a bit of TLC. New paint, the seats need to be re-done, the dash needs to be replaced, shift knobs need to be replaced, etc, etc. I've looked all over the internet but all I can find are websites advertising radiators and catalytic converters. If anyone could point me in the right direction as to where I can find parts for my car I would greatly appreciate it. I'll post pics of her when I can get around to it!
Try http://www.AutoKrafters.com Send for their free all Maverick catalog. What part of Washington are you in?
You can also try Ebay. Type in "Ford Maverick" & hit the search button. After looking at all the stuff there, type in "Mercury Comet" & hit search. Alot of the parts will interchange from the Maverick & Comet. Exceptions would be tail lights, grill, hood, etc. I've gotten alot of stuff off Ebay for my 73 Comet & 70 Grabber, under both places. I've also used Autokarafters. They will mail you an awesome catalog for $5.00. Just go to there web page & order it. If you buy anything from them, they will send you another updated catalog at the end of the year (no charge). I have last years & this years catalog. I'm located I-90 west from you. Keep in touch.
Well, when I called them to ask some questions they offered to send me one for nothing. Guess I got them on a good day.
That's how I got mine too. by the way fellas, seems like Maverick/Comet owners are becoming a bit more prevalent in our area doesn't it?
Mustang Andy's in Greenacres deals with Maverick parts, only problem is he thinks evrything he has is made of gold. also if you ever deal with him make sure you have a friend along who knows Fords, he likes to exagerate about the rarity of things. Sometimes it's easier to get things from him then scrounge for weeks elsewhere though, he's not a bad guy just a business man. Watch him close. Pull & save @ Spaldings wecking yard has mavericks and comets in there sometimes. It's a do-it yourself yard yard with good prices on most items. Missoula Auto salvage in Montana has a few (10-15) Mavericks and is also a do-it-yourself yard that doesn't crush often so if you go there and see something but can't get to it chances are it'll be there next time. they tend to wander on their pricing though. I'm also in the Spokane area so if you need anything in particular let me know and I'll see what I can come up with, like the Grabber hood you like, I know of one on a '73 Grabber in Newport that the guy wants $500 for the whole car. A very workable car too tranny went out years ago and the owner kept it in a barn, all original, blue, V-8 auto car.
Good advice, thanks. I use to live about five minutes from Greenacres, right across the street from NAPA Auto Parts on East Sprague. Where is the Mustang place located? I'm not familiar with Pull & Save, but I have a friend that works at Spaldings. His name is Shorty in case you might know him. I guess I'll have to give him a call. I'm all set for the hood. Let me know if you run across some really straight bumpers and valances for a '73 2-door, front and rear. Thanks! Well, how strange, I used to live in Newport as well. Right off of Dear Valley Road. Sounds like you might have found a nice future project for someone.
How is the body, rust wise on the blue Grabber? Is the interior in decent shape? Sounds like a good find, if it's a solid car. Can you get any pics of it?
the blue Grabber is rusty in the 1/4's like nearly every other Mav/Co. didn't get to look at it really well 'cause of no lighting in the barn. but the owner claims to have parked it years ago due to slipping tranny and from what I did see it was still all original. Shock towers look solid, due to dog being chained in barn dirt is built up around car so couldn't see under it. Dog was never IN car though. Baby blue with white graphics, blue int., buckets, column shifted auto, V-8. $500. owner knows he can sit on it since it's not costing him to let it sit, I offered $300 and he didn't call back. Had other friends look and was told firm on price. I'll stop by next time I'm in area and take my camera with me and see what's what. I'll get # again too since it's been awhile since I talked with him.
