Im thinking about buying some headers for my mav but im stuck on buying the longtube hookers or the shorty hedman 88400. I want to know if any will effect the power and which one is better for street use.

In a nutshell, the shorties are easier to install but long tubes will have better low- and mid-range torque.

The mav is gone but i'm still here!
In theory yes, but no one has dyno`d them. So no one has any idea of how much HP/TQ. Anything is better than the stock crappy manifolds though....

I got shorties because people were saying the long tubes had ground clearance problems.

Short tubes, in theory, are good for high rpm operation, while long tubes bring the power band down lower in the rpm range. However, that can be offset by the fact that most long tube headers for our cars use 1 5/8" tubes, and sometimes 1 3/4" tubes. I don't know about the specific shorty you are looking at, but many of them are 1 1/2" primary tubes, which will artificially keep up port velocity by restricting the exhaust.

The LTs are going to make the broadest power, but the shorties are going to be better than manifolds.
