I started up the Comet yesterday after an idle sitting of a few months. Started right up, no smoke. BUT... When you give it gas it pours out of the accelerator pump. Rebuild time...or replace with a 550cfm 4bbl?
Why and how did you idle the car for 2 months straight without it running out of gas? Just kidding, I would just rebuild it, the kits are dirt cheap and the 2bbl carbs are pretty reliable.
Pours out of the pump housing, or poors out of the squirters ? If it's just the pump housing, all you need do is replace the diaphram. Easy 15 minute job. Buy new carb base plate to spacer gasket and a new diaphram. Unbolt the carb, flip it, remove the 4 screws on the pump housing, replace the diaphram and bolt the carb back on the intake with the new base gasket.
