Well, I got almost done with my 351 swap, when I realized the headers were preventing me from turning left! I used the hedman 88660 headers, and they fit pretty easy, except for the straggler primary on the drivers side was hitting the steering arm. For anybody interested, this is how I had to modify them.
u know they ALL do that u need a ram arm drop bracket same as the mustang one's http://www.summitracing.com/parts/BIG-10041FLT/?rtype=10
That's to clear the power ram, not the steering pitman arm which was my problem. That bracket won't relocate your steering gear box.
Headers are finished, as soon as the paint dries I'll get them in. The welds don't look good, but it the best I can do with flux core wire feed on this small of pipe.
Well congrats on making them fit! It would be nice if they were 1 3/4 or 1 7/8. A 351 exhales alot of air
Well, I got the maverick running and driving now and need to sell it. Anybody have an idea on how much I could get for it? It has a new aluminum radiator, new mega shifter, new starter/alternator/battery, all new hoses, new heater core, edelbrock 120gph electric fuel pump, and the car has 70,000 original, the motor is a full roller cam/lifters/rockers, with a crane cam (not sure of the specs), and dual 3" exhaust (I know it's too big, but it sounds cool).
If the body is in perfect shape and has a great looking paint job you might get as much as $3 - $4000 dollars. (if somebody really wants it) In most cases you won't get more than $1000 - I have never paid more than that for any of mine.
x2. In the maverick world its a buyers market. These cars dont sell for profit, and rarely do they even sell for what you put into them.
