Not it will not. It will bolt up to the motor, but the transmission crossmember will need to be changed. Also the output shaft on a C-6 is 31 spline vs 28 for a C-4. A C-6 is also 3-4 " longer than a C-4. The flexplate will also need to be changed to a 164 tooth unit......................all this and not to mention the shifter linkage will likely be different too. The C-6 is a better transmission in my opinion, but it's not a bolt in swap.

    He's not changing from a c6. It's still a c4. Should be a direct swap.:)

From late 72 until 1982 all C4s were the same case.
Yes it is a direct replacement. Internal differences between the small sixes and the V8s makes a difference but from one 302 to 302 is always OK.

If one is a column shift and the other a floor shift you will need to remove the pan and valve body to flip the shift lever.

You will need to transfer the shift levers over from one to the other - just flipping the lever 180 degrees won't work well.

Ditto, tried that once and it didn't go well. If he's got an aftermarket cable shifter, it doesn't matter which he uses.
