Had the seals and filter changed in my C4 transmission and the mechanic lost the ball and spring under the filter. Where can I get replacements?
I searched the vendor sites but did not see the ball and spring, just the kits which I don't need.

The line pressure pop-off valve and spring come as a kit. Just the spring and valve (it is not a ball). You can try www.mmerlinn.com for a used one or go to www.bulkpart.com for new.

Any transmission shop should have what you need.

    Thanks

Thanks for the info gentlemen. I believe I will get a brand new one. The mechanic who lost it is going to pay for it so why go used!!

Time to find a new mechanic. I wouldn't want someone working on my transmission that wasn't expecting that to pop out at him. He doesn't have the experience to be working on your car.

And, if it was an accident (hey, even I have had it pop across the room when I knew it was there, and was trying to catch it!) he should have taken responsibility for losing it and replaced it himself, and not made you try to find one.

    Hi David (MeanMaverick)

She was doing good. Just took her in to get body work done and repainted. Since she was going to be in for three weeks I said what the heck I'll get the motor rebuilt too. So after she sat there for three weeks with out them doing ANYTHING! I said just send her motor to Bush's (He is the one I wanted to do it anyway but he didn't have time when I first asked him). A week later I said really, take her motor to Bush he is waiting. So two weeks later I said thats enough! The motor is ready put it back in I want my car back now. So got her back a week later. The only thing they did do was change the transmission seals and filter. In the process they, broke the kick down rod, failed to hook up the vacuum line to the modulator, vacuum advance was hooked up wrong, did not replace rear trans seal even though he said he did, the trans pan leaks with new gasket AND gasket sealer, lost the valve and spring under trans filter, so far thats all we have found. She had no trans issues when I took her in. I still love that car and am a wee bit ticked! Anyway I have her at a good mechanic now and he will get her all straightned out. I may just send the whole damn bill to the idiot mechanic! Did i mention being ticked? I may have understated my anger!
So to answer your question of how she is doing, worse in some ways and better in others. Bush did a great job with her motor and will have her trans in good shape. I will be sure to send pics when she gets her bodywork and paint done.
