you can do the same to your stock tank and not do all the other mods to get the mustang tank to fit...

    my stock '76 tank was...$135.
    the sending unit...$20... http://www.restorationperformance.com/servlet/the-132458/1965-dsh-68-Mustang-Fuel-Sending/Detail
not having to do any tank mods to make it fit...priceless.

Here are a few reasons . . . my stock tank is old, with the amount of money I've spent on my engine and carb I prefer to have somewhat newer metal surrounding my gasoline. The fuel sending unit keeps going bad and it's $70 to replace with a 3month waiting period. There was little room to run exhaust to the back to reduce noise. A lot of metal fabricators don't like working on an old tank due to the fumes or at least would charge more money to clean it out before putting down any welds. Also, if my stock tank ever goes bad it's more expensive to replace especially after putting a few hundred into it to get it baffled.

It's finally done and came out better than I expected.

We installed a fuel sending unit and filled it up with gas. On the top are the fittings I'm gonna use when I upgrade my fuel system and go with fuel injection.

The red is a little grease to keep the rubber gasket in place.
