:hmmm: Don't know why you bothered with separate pics for the 351M and 400, they're the same engine externally. The only difference is the crank and pistons. Everything else is the same. If the original valve covers with the emissions sticker is gone, only way to tell one from another is to remove a spark plug and measure the stroke, or drop the oil pan.

Yes, but you got it bassackwards:D You showed the clean, good lookin motor (351M) as the better of the two, compared with that dirty, recently pulled junkyard 400. (although someone DID improve on it with that Holley 500 carb (y)

Yeah, I had a 351C ina '68 Fairlane, that I was running the factory c4 that came in the car, that was behind the 302 that came in the car. That car was an original 67,000 mile car, I was about 20, and couldn't wait to tear it apart. I am appauled at the things that I have done to good original cars in my youth.

Why hasn't the guy posted a picture of the engine and transmission yet? That would solve the mystery.

You can't with the 351M, the 400 has no problem with upgrades. Some add the "M" suffix, some don't to the 400. But whether it's there or not, everyone knows what you're talking about. Only certain people nitpick :Welcome:over the "M" added to 400.:biglaugh:
