It goes on the passenger side, mounted to the inner fenderwell just in front of the firewall. You should have metal lines in the area that hoses attach to from the canister. I'd send a picture, but I took mine out of my 73 Comet. Wait.....my brother has a 73 Maverick. Hold on, I'll get a picture. Here's one from my Comet without the Canister, showing the metal tube on the firewall. Also a picture from the Maverick with the canister in place. Hope this helps.......

My coffee can is mounted low on the inner fender behind the shock tower. If you took it off with the screws (mine got knocked or broke off when I was fitting my headers..) there should be a couple holes two or three inches a part a little ways above the frame rail. The thing in that picture is the fuel vapor cannister.

I see the blue charcoal canister, but the one I seek is smaller, black, and looks like a diminutive coffee can. I think we are in the correct area, but....

That's what I was saying... My vacuum cannister is mounted under the vapor cannister, way down by the frame rail.

Thanks MM, I am going to search closer for it. I was deterred from that location because of a 4 qt trans fluid spill. Those C-4 trannys work a lot better with a pan gasket, and tight bolts.

I haven't tried posting a picture before so I hope this comes out.

Does this help? It shows where my canister was on a 74. It is right below that blue can in the other photos.

I think I got it this time.
