It wasn't a performance package, it was a trim package. Same drivetrain options and suspension etc. as a regular Maverick. I hope that helps a little.

Look & see if the trim code on the data plate is RB. If it is, it's a true Sprint.

Quick question, if the trim code is BB what does that mean? Thats what mine says, but I've always just considered it a regular maverick.

There wasn't much of a "performance package" on any of the mavericks or comets.....they were all pretty much just trim packages, I can tall you the Grabbers came standard with options that were available to any maverick or comet buyer aside from a few i think, like the leather wrapped steering wheel and the wheels and maybe the sway bar.(mine has a 1" Sway) but that could be wrong too.that was about the only difference besides the trim packages in which the Stallion took the Grabber's place in 1976 (ask Mavholic about them he is the stallion guru here) I even at one time thought that grabbers only had v-8's in them and found that to be incorrect also.

Seems since I have been a member here i have learned that the Mavericks and Comet have a very sketchy past as far as options and package differences. Seems Ford did with the Mav's and Com's the same thing Chevrolet did with the Camaro's. They just put what ever was lying around in the plant onto the cars called it a day and shipped them out the door.

Sorry, I've never owned a Stallion. I did check them out at the dealer when they first came out but I thought it was one of the most butt ugly cars Ford ever produced. Looked like they pulled a car out of the body shop too early. I'm not a fan of blacked out anything and this whole car was blacked out, almost. If you ever noticed, every repaint that I've ever seen on these cars, the black was redone in gloss and I'll bet you will find that to be true too. The originals that are left over, have been pledged so much that the black on them is glossy also. In case you've never seen a truly original, and I doubt you ever will, all that black was flat.
