Hi guys, I know Mavericks and Comets are economy cars but I was just wondering if there was ever any type of trim kit for the trunk. My trunk doesn't even have a mat and I'd like to maybe put something in it like the Grand Marquis has. I know that much of the "trim" was little more than cardboard with carpet glued to it. Also I'd like something to cover the taillights with; I used to knock the bulbs out of the holders when I'd load the trunk with groceries. (Seems like the Comet we had had plastic protectors above the bulbs and they weren't as bad.) Thanks in advance. Craig.
Thanks for your reply, meanmaverick. Seems like we looked at a 1976 Maverick with the LDO option and it may have had a carpeted trunk. Doesn't look like it would be hard to fabricate something. Thanks for your reply. Craig.
no, they're not hard to fabricate at all. ive seen a few over the yrs that ive parted out that have had 'custom' additions to the floor of the trunk (ie. solid wood floor that was carpeted, stock mat, normal carpet that was just cut to fit, etc..)
Some Mavericks also had a carpeted type of trunk pad from the factory. Both type of pads can be bought new thru Auto Krafters.
