I finally got Marti Reports for my 71 Grabber and 71 Comet GT. It shows that both have the same paint code and interior color (white and red), both have bucket seats, both have V-8's, and both have manual 3-speeds. Also proves that the Grabber had the floor shifter, which is cool. I think either one alone is pretty rare, but to have both together is pretty cool to me cause I love both Mavericks and Comets. Currently, I am restoring the Grabber to be a street car with a pretty much stock 5.0HO motor. Gonna put the motor in this weekend. The Comet currently has a 331 race motor, toploader racing 4-speed, 9" rear, and runs low 11's. Other than that its stock, but beat up. Maybe someday they both will be fixed up nicely.
Those reports are always so cool ............ The Comet was at the dealership for close to a year before it was sold. Program car or salesman sample maybe?
so Erick that beater was worth something after all. lol! ever fix the dash dent? next time you plan to go to Irwindale let me know. i'm getting the itch again. i rather go 90 mph then go 160+ mph in the goat! lol! the last time i was out there was over a year ago in a 500 + hp lexus and over two years in the maverick lol!
IM So glad you saved that Comet Gt! I still have pics of it when it was mine! .... It was rough but you sure cleaned it up s bit. Is the bullitt hole still in it??
And only 600 ever made in that Color combo... I rescued that GT knowing how beautiful that white on red was when it was new! are you gonna restre it?
i love that you have both a 71 grabber and GT, i have a 71 grabber also and plan on finding a matching 71 GT in the future (far from now though)
Yeah, the Comet still has the bullet holes and dash dent. I want to eventually get a new paint job on it just to make it look decent. The Grabber is getting totally redone with new everything. Derrick, let's go to Irwindale when the weather gets better. We can go on a Saturday or Sunday again. I'll bring the Comet.
