Has anyone tried the Proformer RPM head?

    oil...

if your going to do some autocrossing i would go with a Canton roadrace pan. as far as the pump my knowledge has been with the 351w block. ive got restrictors in the galleys to the cam bearings but oversized the holes because i have a high volume pump, my engine is hydralic cam so no restriction there. i did things this way cause i have a friend who runs a windsor with a hv pump he added the SVO restrictors ie cam bearings and lifters. He called me cause he now has to add an oil cooler, extreme oil temp readings. These are circle track race engines under severe conditions i realize. but most street cars never run an oil temp gauge and not tailoring your oil system to your combination and all its demands could be cooking the very blood of your new powerplant.

    heads

AFR 185 heads(1338) are the best and will be ok for further engine builds. There are better prices than $1600.00 for afr,s. just shop around. I found these for $1450.Afr flow better than dart pro 1s or victor jrs. AFR,s flow 295cfm at 600in lift on intake and 190cfm on ex.

Regarding oil pumps, using a HV on a road course will require baffles in pan if its a front sum as oil will get thrown to back of pan. HV is a great idea. but not HIGH PRESSURE. JMO Ron:)

I agree the AFR's are better. I got a great price on the Dart's that I couldn't pass on. The Moroso pan does have baffles. I have not came across a Canton pan that will clear the girdle. If someone has one, feel free to post a part number for me. Moroso 20510 will clear but i'm kinda worried about how low that pan may sit. I may have to just order it and see.

Love my AFR 165 Comp Heads. I picked up 1 second and 10mph over early casting 58cc 302 heads. Worth every penny !! On a 331 street engine with 10:1 or lower and a mild cam under 550lift I would go with the AFR 165 runner head.

Yeah. With 185s you'll only make 520HP or so at the crank....:yikes:

On to the next step. Holley makes way to many carbs. I'm looking for a good 750 mechanical secondary carb for my 331, T5, 3.73 gears. I would like to stay with a Holley. If you racers have one on the shelf that your not using let me know also. I'm looking for part numbers so I can do some research on them, Thanks.

Sorry for the late response. A storm came through and we were with out power for the last 3 days. Rev should be set at 6500 - 6800.

    Why a 750? Sounds a little too big for a 331.

Well that is what the guy building my engine said. Does the cam make a difference? My new cam looks pretty big compared to the 230/.513 intake //236/.526 exhaust cam I had when it was a 302 .40 over.
