My C-4 blows fluid out the overflow when I make a pass. It is a PA Super Street Transmission. It has always done it. It shows exactly full on the dip stick. Is it over full or is this normal? Is there any way to prevent it?
    Thanks,

Mike I know the feeling, mine did it also for a few runs no idea how much came out but not real low on dipstick tube and tranny temp stays good. At first I thought about tapping vent tube hole and running a catch can, a racer friend of mine did it and has had many races with no issue to tranny.

Got to have something to work on :)

I am sure Paul will jump in and give us some insight

Doesn't make it to the track. It hits the X pipe and makes smoke. :yup:

I agree maybe Paul will give us some words of wisdom. (y) Is the catch can a good option? Has to still vent doesn't it?

Use a vented catch can, have you pulled the transmission pan to see if the dipstick is reading correctly, mark should be level with top of pan.

I would be willing to bet once the fluid level goes down a little it will stop leaking just like mine did

Just a thought on the catch can, it doesnt need to be very big and if you have room on the firewall someplace and can get a line ran to it it would probably never get any in it as there is probably not enough fluid to fill the line from the vent hole and what went in the line would then go back into transmission

had this happen on a '71 i had a few yrs ago and it was the result of the trans fluid getting hot really quick then almost instantly cooling back down. an aftermarket trans cooler cured my problem. dunno if this is the issue here, but it helped me... :)

Certain C4 valve bodies, particularly racing ones spew alot of fluid out of the vent on the 2/3 shift. Mine does it alot and I now have a tube on the vent that goes up to the hood with a vent. It doesn't spew until the clutches start to wear and I get a 2/3 flare, then a little might come out of the vent. A catch can would be best. Use a 1/8NPT (or might be 1/16NPT) 90 degree bend to a AN fitting or hose barb.

Before I had a tube attached I would get real loose after the 2/3 and would spew some fluid out. At Vegas they got mad at me and I wrapped rags around the tranny as a temp fix.

The vent leak can be cured with a 4x4 vent tube from the vent to the firewall just below the hood line and a fuel filter for a vent cap.
The fluid level on the C4 should be 1/2 way between the add and full mark on the dipstick. The heat that is generated during your run is expanding the fluid causing your problem. Lowering the level may help but I suggest the your vent may be plugged causing the problem.

I have installed a much larger cooler this year and it's doing the job so far. (y)
    Thanks for the info.

Erick that's exactly when mine does it between the 2/3 shift. I will be installing the catch can. (y)
    Thanks,

Paul I think you nailed it! (y) I have the fluid level at the very top of the full mark. Thanks for the info. :Handshake

I took tail housing off and tapped vent hole for fitting to hook up catch can.
You will see casting right under hole, make sure your fitting does not screww too close to it and block your venting!
    Solved my dripping!
