Do any of the premade wires sets fit good? I'm looking to get a MSD 8mm set. Also i'm not sure on which one to get. If I have angled plugs with a duraspark distributor do i get the "90 degree/multi angle" set? Or am i just better off getting the universal kit and cutting them to lenght? Thanks for any help.

This is a good thread. I'm coming due for wires myself. Maybe the guys could post some part numbers etc...
I have the Duraspark cap with the male terminals on it as I'm sure most of us do. Coil is mounted to the front of the left head but can relocate.

I bought a set of MSD #5543 frm Jeg's. They are listed for 302, 351W HEI ign. I found them to be a little long; they have straight boots. If I were to do it agn, I wud probably go w/ univ setup for a better fit and wud go for the multi-angle boots. That's my experience. Other than that I cud tell the difference as soon as I started the engine -- smooth.

I use the accel 8mm plug wires for mine, with angle boots... custom fit though, but incredibly simple, with the crip tool (4 bucks) and a pocket knife, give yourself a little time, and figure your routing first, you can get exactly what you want rather easy, and they make them in multiple colors as well (ford blue for me)... seem to work a TON better than any "universal" sets i've used in the past.

Not to jack this thread but what is the difference or advantage/disadvantage of 8,9 and 10 MM wires (besides the obvious size for those like myself that are smart guys :D)

The universal ones are the ones that you cut to fit.... But thanks for the input guys! I'll go with the cut to fit ones, they come with a free crimpt tool. Oh and i found out the multi angle ones are 180 degree so they'll work for standard heads with angle plugs.

I use the Motorcraft replacements for a 1990 5.0l EFI. They should fit almost all 302/5.0l with a Duraspark cap(male posts). They fit pretty good.

Very little for a street car. Some so called performance cables can even reduce spark on factory systems. They have to match the rest of the system and what its designed for. Unless you get into some race type set ups, (high energy /multi spark) a lot of it is marketing hype.
For example on a factory duraspark system the factory wires are more than adequate. You can go aftermarket to get prettier and neater but you wont notice a difference driving down the road.

I think i got Accel wires now but have had MSD and factory replacements from the parts store. If you have the Duraspark cap you can just order the sets for any year 5.0 mustang. I prefer the 45 degree boots on the plug ends. Straight boots are too long and 90s hit the headers too easily. I also have the woven fiberglass plug boot covers to keep from melting the plug boots on the headers.

Money well spent, I dont't know how many times Ive replaced wires due them moving and hitting the header. Have had a set of these boots for over ten years and no problems since.

these are the pulg wires i use and recomend on everything. http://www.jegs.com/i/Accel/110/7054/10002/-1?parentProductId=747748
there price has jumped up a bit lately but they have a life time warente. i have never had a problem geting them warenteed either. a friend of mine was on a race team that dyno tested every plug wire set they could get there hands on and these gave them the most power.
i dont like the taylor wires. there plug ends pull off too easly. i find the msds seem to burn really easly. now all of this knowlage was compiled 7 to 10 years ago. things do change and other brands may have goten beter but none beat the lifetime warente on the accells.
