Hello !!! Hope someone can help
I have a 1976 ford maverick with the 250 in line 6 engine and the problem I have is that about 3 years ago had installed after market rims when the front brake pads were already broken in - now that I have installed new ones I am having the caliper rub and scrape against the rim intermittently - would this be because of the the new brake pads pushing out the calipers on the front ??? and would spacers help this problem ??? I am in desperate need of an answer - I have never had to put spacers on before in all 14 years I have owned the car but I never put after market rims on till recently - so any opinions and or answers would help !!! THANKS -:(:(:(

i had a similar problem on my car. it turned out that with new pads the body of the caliper would rub on one of the bump out in the molding. i few miinutes with a file fixed the problem. look to see where it is rubbing.

What size rims are you running?

    14x7 is my guess. ;)

Sounds like your calipers have a little extra metal on them. Just grind the extra metal off. It will be a small amount...so don't go crazy.

put the outside pads on a...belt sander...and sand off about 1/8" from pad...you got 3 years out of the last ones...:Handshake
