I'm not sure why you're so defensive about this, but that paint job and car overall is very far from mint condition. It needs a complete restoration, period. Good body work on a solid car will last many, many years and if door gaps and body seams are off, that's the fault of the person who installed them and has nothing to do with the fact that a vehicle underwent restoration.

My car was a rust free survivor and I will take a two-stage modern paint job over original 70's enamel any day.

I've got one in my garage right now, and it'll get a nice new paint job.

Im giving credit where Credit is due Survivor cars are top notch in Collectibility. Not many people who do Restortions on Mavericks spend the time to do them the right way because they arnt high priced vehicles. Ive seen a few nice Restorations on this forums.. but bang for the buck means a nice clean Survivor.(y)

I get lots of compliments on my resteration all the time then I shock them by telling them it's factory paint. That factory enamal would shine as good as any new paint. Mine survived by setting in a garage its whole life. The door and fender gaps are really good but with the paint being so shinny you can see where the roof and guarters meet. This causes some people to think I put new guarters on it. Also a little dust in the paint on the roof pillar. It is a lot of fun when they are finally convinced its a survivor. And that duds comment on no other original int. being that nice has never seen mine.

Sounds like a nice car Joe. I like and prefer the Original Sheen on the Enamels. They were glossy but no to glossy. What year is your car?

Mavtrixs, its a 71. 29,000k miles no winters and very little rain. Also on these older cars they had the same paint in the door jams, trunk jams, and under the hood. The new cars are robot sprayed and have a cheap looking base coat in all those places and you see a lot of primer showing around the hinges and other closed areas they don't reach. To me they look cheap. Also as some of the realy good repaint jobs that are out there I have never seen one that is as durable to chips as factory paint.
