    Hello,

Just hoping someone can help me out. Purchased a stroker kit for my 71 gt comet. Its not spec'ing out and we are now wondering if the engine was swapped at some point.

    Code is: 1K55063

Anyone know if this is really a 302 from 1971?

Looks like a Vin number...not a casting number

Blocks are stamped with the first 2 and last 6 VIN numbers. The stampings are usually shallow and it is common to not see all the digits. It indicates this engine is from a 1971 Kansas City -built Ford prodcut with a VIN ending in 55063x. Check your VIN. It's probably the original motor.

What do you mean, "Its not spec'ing out"?

All my main bearings are very tight. Tighter than what clevite says. The housing bores are 0.0008" smaller than the housing bore recommendation. Should I line hone it to spec or use and extra clearance bearing?
