Hi, my Maverick has had this hesistation for years, but in an attempt to fix it, it just got worse.

I first noticed it when I replaced the stock 2bbl carburetor with a 4bbl Holley. Moderate acceleration, like trying to get onto the highway, would cause it to lag, but eventually catch itself and never occur again until the engine shut off and cooled down overnight.

about 16 months ago, I swapped the C4 for a T5 and got a 575 CFM Street Demon with mechanical secondaries, but to no avail. still hesitates. Recently I changed the floats because they were on the "race" mark, not the "street" mark, which changed moved the hesitation from moderate acceleration to light acceleration, like giving a little gas to come off a stoplight. Any suggestions to fix this issue? By the way, the rest of engine is factory stock.

Timing and a tune up would be a start. What ignition system are you running ? Most "carb problems" are not caused by the carb, but are caused by ignition problems.

I agree that timing and tune up parts are an excellent start. Look closely at the plugs when you check them. 'Reading' the plugs can give you a general insight about the spark and fuel conditions in your engine.

Are the exhaust passages blocked off in the intake manifold?

I was thinking vacuum advance as well. My car did the same kind of thing until I figured out the advance was hooked to manifold vacuum instead of ported.

It's a pertronix electronic ignition system with a flamethrower coil.

Under my demon carb is 2 vacuum lines, but I'm not entirely sure what they do. I have my vacuum advance connected to the front most line as opposed to the line directly behind it. what do you mean by "instead of ported"?

You've most likely got it connected to full manifold vacuum. If Demons are like Holley's in the vacuum port layout, the ported vacuum is the one sticking out the passenger side of the main metering block.

weirdly enough, the 2 vacuum lines are both on the passenger side. Maybe I'll try running the line on the rear one instead of the front
