Data logging . . .

    I got a great deal on a data logger. Been looking for one for a while. I already have an innovative motorsports A/F gauge with Logworks software. It's the LMA-3 and has a MAP sensor and 5 channels to log data with.

    So I'm wondering, besides RPM and A/F is there other data worth recording to tune the engine? I don't have a supercharger yet but soon.

    The engine is a 331 8.7:1 compression, I race it here and there but it's a daily driver. T5 with 3.80 gears.

    EGT's and manifold pressure. Also, with a trigger wheel on the driveshaft you can record driveshaft speed to compare it to engine rpm for clutch slippage. You also have a 2 axis accelerometer available in that unit so you can record forward g-forces. This will help indicate tire slippage.

    I'm really curious about EGT, is that really helpful for tuning? I did some reading on it and I talked to Bryant about it, got some mixed info.

    Very important in tuning. Think of it this way.....egt plays a very important role in EFI tuning on serious engines. Since EFI is a very precise form of fueling an internal combustion engine while a carburetor is really a very crude form of fueling wouldn't it be in your favor to be able to more precisely control your a/f settings by seeing the exhaust gas temperatures?
