    Hello all,

Thanks for having me and thanks for being here.

I've been lurking on here for a few weeks now while I shopped around for my latest endeavor. Felt like I had to wait until I actually had one before i posted and introduced myself.

So, today was the day!!!! Just brought my new baby home. She's a 72 Maverick with a 250 in her. I wanted a 302, even looked at one with a 351 in it....but this little blue beauty just called to me. Her previous owner did some things to her that I would not have done and I'm sure a purist would not appreciate but I think she looks pretty cool. She's bluffing a little but hopefully time will allow me to make an honest girl out of her (The dual exhaust is not functional, nor is the hood scoop).

I've owned two others in the past but without the interenet being what it is today, my lack of knowledge or money at the time, and general lack of focus I wasn't able to finish my project. I started out with a 71 comet with a 170 and about 30 dents. Did all the body work and got it painted. THEN decided a 302 was in order so I bought a 74 rust bucket with a running 302 and C4 in it. Long story short....ten years later I had two motorless cars and a bunch of parts with no way to ever finish. Ended up letting some kid take it all for a couple hundered bucks.....always regretted it.

So I'm gonna give my dream car another try. Hopefully this time I'll be able to see it through and make this baby what I've always wanted. I know it would have been easier to just buy a finished 302 car, or better yet a car that's not 40 years old....but I got a score to settle. I hope you all will be patient with me while I beg for help and information. I am really glad to see such a great group of people that also appreciate this little car for what it is. I look forward to seeing it through this time and sharing with you all while I do it.

    Thanks again,

    Spyguy

Hello and :Welcome: to the forum. I have seen your car many times in the past, a lot of work went into making it what it is, and it was purchased at a good price.

Dayton is where I purchased my first Maverick a 75 Grabber, heck now that I think about it I also purchased another 75 Grabber there as well, you probably know the house it came from :) One of my Mavericks has been there many times but was probably sitting on trailer either on the way to dragstrip or on the way home.

Looking forward to seeing the progress with your new rides as it is a good starting point, it is begging for a v8 or a hopped up 250 so it can earn the GT250 badging that it wears

That doesn't surprise me. Ken was a pretty cool guy and I know he put a ton of time into this car.

It's nice to know you guys know more about my car than I do....lol

Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm planning to make good use of it!

I'm planning to post on a separate thread.....but does anyone have any guidance they'd like to share regarding the conversion to a 302? I tried this once before and got in way over my head. I'd like to do it right this time and would love some advice on how to do it, what I'll need, etc.
