I am leaving Minnesota this weekend and driving to Florida, will hang out for the week until it is time to head to Coco Beach and kick off the Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour. I am going to long haul back to the north where it ends in Detroit. Are there any Maverick or Comet owners going to participate this year? This trip is a blast and I have met a few of you folks on this forum over the past couple of years; it woud be fun to meet up again or meet new folks too!
Wish I could! It's hard to get a long weekend off of work here. My wife's family is from Cocoa Beach and we try to make it there twice a year. Best of luck!
I wanted to go to Detroit, for the end, but it's on a Friday, and Saturday is just for long haulers. Someday, I'll do the whole thing....
well I hope to run into some of you at the venue stops. I should be pretty easy to spot in an orange Maverick with a shaker scoop. I don't know if I have seen more than 10 Maverick/Comets at a given time in all the Power Tour trips I have done; that is what makes the Mav so much fun, a unique car amongst all the Camaro, Chevelles and Mustangs out there. Two days to go for departure, a week after that is when the rollling party begins!
Once I get the Red Comet GT finished, one of the things I plan on doing is doing the Power Tour in it. Thet'll be a while off yet though. G'Luck with your trip and I hope you have a great time! -Scott H.
Have fun and rest up beforehand ... you are going to need it! I did two and three day stints on the 1998, 1999, and 2000 tours, and was pretty exhausted each time. Hard to imagine doing the full tour.
I will be in either a gold '73 Mustang conv or a black '69 XR7 htp. Both cars have made the trip to Ky and back before, so I should not have any problems, knock on wood. Looking forward to meet other Maverick/Comet owners. It should be a fun time. Jim
I went to the Fri stop in Detroit and had the pleasure of meeting Mavman. Very nice car, 347 and a 5-speed. To bad about the rain but heres a couple of pic's of his car.
I remember seeing your Maverick when we were coming down the road to the Motor Speedway in Montgomery. You were headed out and moving on down the road. Nice car. Sorry we missed you. We dropped off in Ky and went to my home town for a couple of days before heading back to Fl. Jim
