I have a 73 maverick with factory ac , the problem is that the control switch doesn't work . The only switch that work is the one to turn on ac/fan. In other words the fan won't turn by itself the compressor has to turn on and the other two control switches won't work, the one for defrost and a/c fresh/max. My question is might it have to do with the vacuum hoses. I notice two hose from firewall are connected, one to tran and the other to motor. But next to them I have 3 smaller hose plug(about 1/4 in thick) ,my question is are these related to the control switch, where should they be connected. They are plug with a little screw. Help

So when you turn on the fan...does the air flow only come out the defrost vent at the top of the dash?

Same thing Craig said! I had the problem of air flow only coming out of the defrost vent. And I had to buy a vacuum canister. (I guess that is what it is called, looks like a tuna can to me.) And that fixed my issue.

My canister produces vacuum so I think I need the ac control switch cause if i put vacuum direct the vents work. If anybody has one let me know. Thanks
