Road Trip (Power Tour update) Wow what a trip! I have finally recovered from two weeks on the road, 4500 miles on the Maverick and never missed a beat! I met a couple of Maverick owners this past week in different cities on the tour, Jim (coutangman) it was too bad we didn't get to connect. Rick thank you for posting the pictures on this thread; someone asked for picturs of the car but I didn't see that until I was on the road. I met a fellow Maverick guy in Valdosta who was from Florida, I think his name was Walter (?) and he had a pretty cool Maverick too. There were memorable once in a lifetime moments on the trip, one was the inside the fence tour of Kennedy Space Center, another was taking a lap at the Brickyard, and finally not only able to bring a FORD into GM Proving Grounds but taking laps on their track too! If anyone ever has a chance to do this trip you gotta! We started with a couple of days back in 05 and have made this our summer vacation for the past 4 years. Absolutely the coolest thing I have done with cars. I do have lots of pictures and will post some of the better ones in a day or so once I get them off my camera.
Hmm Walter? Maybe I missed him. LOL My Dad and I (Ray and Chris) were there in our Silver 73 Mav. We greated you almost immediately after you arrived and parked at the Tremac booth. It was a pleasure meeting you and seeing your car. Im still impressed with the paint on that car. Absolutely beautiful. Glad you made the trip safely and look forward to seeing you next year. HRPT ends in my home town. Should be a great time.
yeah the schedule has become hectic the past two years; in the earlier years it was a lot of seconday roads and small towns to pass through. For some reason the route has gotten longer hence the highway driving which I am not so much a fan of. We have dicussed in our own group to opt out some day and create our own little tour, pick 4-5 cities to visit and spend a week traveling that way. I know we will do 2012 just because we are already planning for it so I do hope to meet up with you and your dad again. Keep in touch and thanks for the kudos on the car.:Handshake
