The padding is more simpler than peel and stick...just lay it down and let gravity do its thing. I did use some 2-face carpet tape around the tunnel to hold it in place before using aluminum tape on the seams. I didn't try it but I think I could pull the padding out of the car and it would had kelp its shape after it was taped at the seams.
Sounds good Does this type of product come with any sound deadening numbers that make it possible to compare with other manufacturers? I was just wondering how it compares with Dyna Mat
The stuff I was talking about is nothing like Dynamat. I'm talking about carpet padding. I used 2 layers of Peel & Seal on the floor pan...3 layers on the toe board/firewall. P&S is about the same thickness as Dynamat but cost less than a $1 per sq ft compaired to $3 pre sq ft for Dynamat. I saved about $650 by using Peel & Seal. Here is the bottom of the carpet pad.
Peel n Seal is not available by me. Have a neighbor that works for a roofing company. He checked and can get it in a 3 ft width as well.
Lowe's carry Peel & Seal, I been told that Home Depot carries another name brand. For a link type in peelandseal.com and your brouser will redirect you to a site
Peel & Seal is 6" wide. I cut off 10"-15" pieces to make it easier to deal with. I couldn't imagine messing with a big sheet because once this stuff touches something...it's stuck.
I will check at Home Depot and see what they have...i was told also it is different than the...peel and seal from Lowe's. i just put the peel and seal under the new carpet in my '72 Grabber...
Lowe's version of peel and seal has a foam rubber backing, I used it on the under side of the roof before I put in my headliner... It was on there for about 3 months before I covered it up,still sticking well but also still in the garage... Dose the peel and seal you use have a foam backing ?
this may be good...untill it gets wet... a leak from the...cowl...windshield gasket or heater core...(window left down in the rain) would be trouble. I had the heater core leak and the carpet backing pad was hard enough to get dried back out. i think this would be better used...above the headliner...glued to the...Peel and seal...JMO as always ......
two things I do know....any car I own will have the floorpans coated with... www.Rustbullit.com and then peel and seal applied... ......
