Actually it was the 3rd. It was the festival Auburn GA has every year. It is my home town. The population triples for the fireworks which are very good. I decided to put my car in the annual car show and took 4th on a public vote. The voting ended before my family and friends got there so I took 4th from complete strangers. The conversation and comraderie among the people I met from 12:00 til fireworks was incredible. The car was in a perfect viewing spot for the fireworks so all my friends, family, and neighbors gathered around "the Comet". The reaction the car received from people of all ages was incredible. It drew the largest crowd of any car there and made the years of effort and financial sacrifice worth it. My buddy took this picture on his phone that captured the moment. I just had to share this day. I hope that y'all have had or will have a day this good with your project.

Looks like the July fourth weekend was a good day for black Comets.

Nice job. I did 2 car shows this past weekend. The one on the 4th was around 240 cars. Only one maverick. Always fun. :drive:

The voting was a matter of who had the largest family. I did'nt ask my family to get there early. I was'nt trying to win anything. The most beutiful 67 Chevelle I ever laid eyes on should have won. A four door 57 chevy with nice paint and some Cragers won. We were all thankful when he got there to take care of the mosquitos. He did'nt even pop the hood. Complete strangers told me they voted for my car. That meant more to me than anything. The kids loved the sidepipes and slots.
