Hey guys.. I just got a new alt. and volt. reg. from Autozone.. Installed them both and Im still not getting a charge.. I have my entire gauge cluster out right now, working on restoring em.. Could this be the problem?. Ive read about a warning light needed to complete the loop.. Also on the alt. should there be another ground besides the 3 wires grouped in the harness leading to the volt. reg.? Please bare with me, this is a first dealing with the charging system.. Ive searched the net but there is a lot to know about this subject, and I dont get it.. Mine is the stock replacement with 3 wire harness but there is an extra stud on the back.. What type is this G1? Pleas Help!..
the gage cluster is your problem. the alt light needs to be in the circuit. thats what turns on the charging system
