Well, car is on the back burner for now. Would have been bad to get half way there and the engine blows. Like Frank says, " everything happens for a reason". See you next week!
Consider yourself lucky. I had the machine shop in Griffin to turn a crank, align bore, press piston pins, valve seats and install valve springs by a guy who suppose to know his stuff. I put a total of six miles on the engine before it locked down with antifreeze pouring on the ground. I pulled the valve cover to see a valve tip missing. When I took the block and head back to see if he will make it good and stand by his work…he said he didn’t know I was building a high performance engine. (Actually I had to get his son to translate what he was saying because of his strong New York/German accent) I asked him why did he think that I was going with studded mains, 10.5 to 1 forged pistons and triple valve springs. Long story short…he used stock keepers and I had to pay for the sleeve, buy another piston and rod. He ate the labor and replaced the rest of the parts.
Well, I called Dover Cylinder Head, and they have totally rebuilt and assembled E7Te heads for $132 each, exchange. I just want to take my springs off, as they came with the cam. Might just buy them outright and keep all the parts.
Sorry to hear that EARL!--I had a guy to PM. you who might have a rebuilt head he is not using! He lives in Villa Rica- I don't know where Temple is nor Villa Rica-since I am from Possum POINT! but I hope he can help! He is a member here, who doesn't get a chance to view much now*
Send me his name and a phone# and I will contact him. Be nice to meet some Ford folks around here. Temple and Villa Rica are on the west side of Douglasville. Thanks again,
