Black or body color engine compartment

    Don't know what to do. Have the Maverick going in the shop in a couple of weeks for body and paint. Gonna do the whole car in Grabber Orange but can't decide whether to do the retro style black engine compartment like the 1970 Mavs and classic Mustangs or do the stock body color paint. What have most of you guys done?? I'm leaning towards the blackout ....

    I like the black. Plus if you wanna drive it, that orange is going to get dirty looking fast. :)

    I prefer body color. Just looks better in my opinion. But lighter colors are definately hard to keep clean and color wont hide things like black does.

    We did ours in black, it doesn't feel as bad when I scratch it doing work to the engine and assories. Shake-a shake-a spaaatz spaatz and it's fixed :D

    We painted the engine compartment in my red 77' semi-gloss black. It looks great when everything is showroom clean, and it's pretty easy to touch up if it gets scratched or nicked.

    I also did mine is fizzy can semi-flat black. It has a way of hiding imperfections. Hey may-be thats how I should paint the whole car.

    It is actually Vista Orange. A 1977 Ford color used on Mavericks, Vans, Trucks, Mustangs, Etc. When comapred to Grabber Orange, it is more of a lighter, yellow orange, while Grabber Orange is more of a darker, red orange

    gonna have it ready for the Roundup? Mine was still a shell on the rotisserie in May so no excuses.
