This might be old news or common knowledge, maybe everybody does this and I was the last one to figure it out, but just in case I can help somebody out, I'll share an idea I had today...

The round AC vents in a package tray dash are supposed to have a felt strip around them to hold their position and keep them from flopping around. Mine did when I first got them, briefly, but the adhesive had broken down and very soon the felt had fallen out. I just wedged the vents where I wanted them and left them alone for a long time, but decided to try and fix them today.

The solution: Velcro. Bought a roll of black adhesive backed velcro tape, cut it to about 3/8" width, and was able to slip the fuzzy side of it in there where the old felt strip was. Works great!

for lack of a better way of putting it...I took my balls apart, installed new self-sticking felt and then reassembled them.
your way sounds like the same thing but different...:thumbs2:

I need to do my dash ac vents. I will try the velcro on them. I replaced the round package tray vents w/ modern style ones. This thread was right on time.:)

I have been thinking about ordering some of those from NAP for a while now. Thanks for the pics. I like the Velcro idea, I think I'll try it on my vents. I still need the adapters to hook up the hoses though.. They were left off the vents when I bought the tray.

Along w/ installing something to create resistance in the dash vent/louver outlets, I also believe Im losing quite-a-bit of air around where the old fiber plenum meets the register. Im getting cold air out but I think it cud be improved.

I noticed when re-assembling the dash plenum it was deformed, I suppose frm years of being subject to temp changes. Although, I had installed some rubber strips along the perimeter I had to remove it to get the register to fit up in the dash. I think something thinner and more flexible, might work.

When I got everything workin this spring I just wanted to be able to have some heat and AC by summer to make the MCCI RU -- I did that so Im happy.. :bananamanIt works but I think it cud be more efficient.

I will look into some kind of upgrade to sealing it agn once the wx cools down -- mid 90's is not wx I relish workin on cars or anything else for that matter.

I am wondering if anyone has made any mod's in this area. If so, what method or means was used and was there appreciable improvment????

I used duct tape and I'm not ashamed to admit it! It's a duct. I did at least use black tape though...

I took ur suggestion and put some Velcro in the vents, as stated, the stuff works well. Thanks for ur idea. Quick, easy, simple expensive fix. :)
